We are partnering with a rapidly scaling communications agency known for helping venture-backed businesses craft compelling narratives, elevate visibility, and earn meaningful media attention. Specializing exclusively in the technology and innovation sectors, the agency works with startups and established venture-backed companies to sharpen their positioning and drive impactful coverage across top-tier media outlets. Founded by an award-winning communications leader, the firm emphasizes a storytelling-first philosophy — translating complex business ideas into clear, resonant narratives that land with both press and audiences.

The firm is looking to add a Vice President to its team — a senior communications professional who can lead strategic initiatives, shape compelling narratives, and elevate client visibility.

Role

  • Oversee the composition and strategic direction of multiple client accounts, ensuring each engagement aligns with client goals, agency standards, and long-term outcomes.
  • Lead proactive, hands-on media relations, particularly with top-tier outlets, and navigate high-stakes or sensitive account situations where strategic messaging is critical.
  • Serve as a point person for crisis communication and reputation management, providing counsel and swift execution during urgent or high-pressure moments.
  • Mentor and guide team members, managing resources across accounts and fostering professional growth through coaching, feedback, and delegation.
  • Identify and resolve issues on underperforming accounts, demonstrating a strategic mindset and operational agility to correct course before problems escalate.
  • Proactively spot new opportunities for client and agency growth, leveraging industry insights and emerging trends to introduce fresh ideas or offerings.
  • Inspire and elevate the performance of direct reports and cross-functional teammates, promoting a culture of accountability, confidence, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate excellence in new business development, from pitch strategy and storytelling to prospect engagement and closing — helping drive agency expansion and brand recognition.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in public relations, with a background in an agency setting.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for emerging technologies, with a talent for amplifying the stories of venture-backed companies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational abilities, balancing multiple priorities, timelines, and deliverables across fast-moving accounts.
  • Extreme attention to detail, ensuring every pitch, plan, and communication is clear, accurate, and on-brand.
  • Ability to distill complex ideas into clear narratives and frameworks, turning strategic thinking into actionable communications.
  • Relationship-first approach to networking, grounded in authenticity and long-term value.
  • Strong desire to learn, grow, and embrace candid feedback, viewing each project and challenge as an opportunity for development.
