Head of Communications

Our client, a pioneering healthtech startup operating at the intersection of neuroscience, robotics, and advanced materials is looking to hire an accomplished Head of Communications. Backed by leading international investors and preparing for major clinical and regulatory milestones, the company is developing breakthrough technology to revolutionise the treatment of complex neurological conditions.
As they enter a critical phase of growth and public visibility, our client is seeking a Head of Communications to craft and lead a bold, coherent narrative across scientific, medical, investor, and public-facing channels.
Role
- Develop and lead a comprehensive communications strategy that reflects the company’s mission internationally with a focus specifically on US and European markets
- Shape and maintain a consistent narrative across channels, audiences, and markets—including healthcare professionals, investors, regulators, and the broader public
- Manage proactive and reactive communications efforts, including media engagement, press statements, and crisis comms
- Cultivate relationships with key media, thought leaders, and stakeholders in the investment, tech, healthtech, medtech, and regulatory, scientific communities
- Collaborate closely with the executive team on funding announcements, and public-facing messaging tied to regulatory milestones
- Produce compelling, scientifically/ medically grounded content—press releases, whitepapers, video scripts, blog posts, and more—that communicates the complexity and promise of the company’s technology
- Oversee digital communications and brand positioning, including social media, SEO, and web content, in collaboration with design and technical teams
- Support policy and advocacy efforts by developing materials that resonate with regulators, policymakers, and global health stakeholders
- Lead the planning and execution of key events, such as press briefings, investor demos, and scientific and medical symposia
- Act as a visible spokesperson for the company where appropriate, representing the brand at conferences, interviews, and industry panels
Requirements
- Significant experience in senior communications roles, ideally within medtech, deeptech, or high-growth science-led companies
- Experience within a Seed or Series A scale up
- Exposure to both US and European media and networks a huge plus
- A proven ability to translate highly technical and scientific concepts into accessible, compelling content for diverse audiences
- Strong media relations experience, including handling press under pressure and leading crisis communications when needed
- Excellent writing, editorial, and storytelling skills, with a deep understanding of brand tone and narrative architecture
- Strategic mindset with experience building scalable communications strategies aligned to business and regulatory milestones
- Knowledge of digital communications tools and channels, including content, social media, and SEO best practices
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced startup environment—partnering effectively with technical, clinical, commercial, and executive teams
- Familiarity with the regulatory and clinical landscape (e.g. FDA, EMA) is a plus, though not essential.
- Comfortable operating in both English and international contexts; French language skills are a plus
