Our client, a pioneering venture capital fund at the forefront of transforming the built world through investing in innovative, decarbonising technologies, is seeking a talented Communications Manager to join their growing team. With a portfolio spanning structures, energy, materials, mobility, and community-focused innovations, they back visionary founders driving systemic change.

The fund is looking to hire a dynamic Communications Manager to lead and execute their communications, IR, content, and community strategies. This hands-on role is ideal for a skilled writer and creative operator passionate about VC, tech, and startups, who thrives on autonomy. You’ll be responsible for crafting compelling content, managing external communications channels, and building a vibrant community. In addition, you’ll support investor relations initiatives, help amplify the brand across the ecosystem, and engage key stakeholders. You’ll work closely with partners and the investment team, reporting directly to the COO.

Role

  • Lead the creation and execution of content and digital communications, from newsletters and research-led reports to brand messaging and visual identity updates.
  • Partner with senior leadership to shape and deliver investor engagement and fundraising strategies, managing the full communications lifecycle from narrative development to stakeholder materials.
  • Translate complex insights into accessible, high-impact storytelling that strengthens relationships with LPs, founders, co-investors, and the wider ecosystem.
  • Drive community engagement through the planning and delivery of flagship events, industry forums, and ecosystem initiatives, while managing marketing and community budgets.
  • Oversee PR and media relations, securing impactful coverage, building the firm’s thought-leadership presence, and preparing the team for high-profile opportunities.
  • Maintain content and brand consistency across all digital channels and internal platforms, ensuring clarity, quality, and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Provide editorial and project management support for flagship reports and insights, coordinating inputs across teams and external partners.
  • Monitor communications performance through analytics and feedback, recommending enhancements to improve reach and impact.
  • Build and nurture relationships with journalists, media outlets, and ecosystem influencers to expand visibility and credibility.
  • Support internal communications by equipping the team with clear, aligned messaging for investor meetings, industry events, and founder engagement.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in communications, content, marketing, or investor relations roles.
  • Event planning and management experience preferred; experience in startups, VC/PE, or climate tech is a plus.
  • Exceptional communicator with strong writing, editing, and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively across diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, operationally excellent, and capable of managing multiple projects and workflows at pace.
  • Comfortable leveraging AI and productivity tools to enhance efficiency and output.
  • Experienced working cross-functionally with partners, founders, investors, and agencies in collaborative environments.
  • Highly autonomous self-starter, thriving in lean, high-agency settings and able to take initiatives from concept to execution.
  • Strong curiosity about the VC and startup ecosystem, with a keen interest in climate innovation.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Notion, Mailchimp, Trello, Webflow, LinkedIn, or Luma is advantageous.
