Vice President of Communications

Salary: Available on request
Job type: Permanent
Status: Live

An early-stage European venture capital fund backing founders tackling some of the most technically demanding and consequential challenges of our time is seeking a Vice President of Communications. Operating across multiple European cities and investing at the frontier of deep technology, AI, energy, advanced manufacturing and defence, the firm has established a distinctive position as one of Europe's most ambitious and fastest-growing venture capital funds. This is a pivotal hire as the fund ambitiously continues to scale its influence and presence in the ecosystem. They are looking for a senior strategic leader who will define the firm's narrative, brand, shape its intellectual positioning and build its profile with founders, LPs, policymakers and the broader technology community.

Role

  • Define and codify the firm's core narrative and thematic pillars, aligned with its investment strategy and long-term ambition
  • Develop and execute an annual communications roadmap spanning media, content and owned media, new media and ecosystem engagement
  • Ensure consistency of voice and positioning across partner communications, founder updates and LP materials
  • Maintain and evolve the firm's brand and visual identity
  • Lead proactive and reactive media engagement, maintaining strong relationships with key journalists and outlets
  • Prepare partners and portfolio founders for press and public speaking opportunities
  • Provide strategic messaging guidance to portfolio companies, supporting major milestone announcements and developing scalable communications toolkits
  • Build and scale a structured thought leadership platform across written, audio and video formats, leveraging AI tools to increase output and distribution efficiency
  • Develop direct distribution channels including LinkedIn, long-form essays, short-form video, reports and curated newsletters
  • Design and cultivate high-trust networks across founders, operators, policymakers, influencers, and industry leaders, creating differentiated events and communities aligned with the firm's thesis areas
  • Work alongside the firm's public affairs lead to develop and execute a structured strategy engaging with policymakers, regulators and think tanks
  • Manage external agencies and specialist service providers
  • Anticipate reputational risks and own proactive issue and crisis strategy

Requirements

  • Proven experience in brand, communications, public affairs or ecosystem leadership, ideally within venture capital, technology, policy, media or high-growth environments
  • Senior-level operational experience, with a track record of advising founders, partners and executives on positioning, narrative and reputation
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling a thought leadership platform or institutional brand, beyond transactional PR
  • Experience engaging with senior journalists, policymakers, regulators or industry leaders, with the credibility to represent an organisation at that level
  • A strong understanding of the European technology landscape, including perspectives on sovereignty, industrial policy and the role of venture capital in shaping the ecosystem
  • Fluency in modern content formats including long-form writing, short-form video, events and digital distribution, with experience using AI tools to increase quality and efficiency
  • The ability to combine strategic judgment with strong execution, setting direction while maintaining a high bar for output
  • A proven track record of building networks and communities, not just audiences, around shared themes or missions
  • Comfort working alongside ambitious, opinionated individuals and the ability to influence without formal authority
  • Genuine motivation to help build an enduring European institution and shape the long-term narrative around technology and progress
