Head of Communications

Salary: £140,000 - £160,000
Job type: Permanent
Status: Live

We are seeking a highly strategic and trusted Head of Communications to lead all aspects of corporate communications for a growth-focused private equity firm. This is a senior, discreet role reporting to and working closely with the Managing Partner to manage and protect the firm’s reputation, ensure consistency of messaging, and support the firm’s relationships with investors, founders, and key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have deep experience in corporate communications, reputation management, and financial services, with the judgment and discretion required to operate in a private and commercially sensitive environment. This role is central to articulating the firm’s investment philosophy and value creation approach, while maintaining a measured and thoughtful external presence.

Role

  • Develop and oversee a clear communications framework that supports the firm’s long-term strategy and growth investment focus
  • Advise the Managing Partner and senior leadership on reputation, positioning, and sensitive communication matters
  • Manage external communications carefully and selectively, ensuring controlled and consistent messaging across media, digital channels, and stakeholder groups
  • Craft narrative and content that support the firm’s relationships with founders, LPs, and the wider market, with an emphasis on clarity, accuracy, and strategic intent
  • Partner with Investor Relations to ensure alignment of communications with fundraising cycles, LP updates, and broader stakeholder engagement
  • Provide discreet support to portfolio companies on communications during key events such as funding rounds, exits, leadership changes, or market developments
  • Lead internal communications to support alignment, culture, and engagement within a growing firm
  • Oversee and manage communications partners and advisers as necessary

Requirements

  • Proven experience in corporate or financial communications, ideally within private equity, growth capital, asset management, or a related environment
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with discretion, judgment, and a low-visibility approach, managing complex and sensitive communication issues
  • Strong capability in shaping and controlling corporate narrative and reputation
  • Established media and stakeholder understanding, with the ability to manage relationships strategically rather than publicly
  • Excellent writing, messaging, and content development skills, with a disciplined, concise communication style
  • Experience managing agencies, budgets, and senior internal relationships.
  • Familiarity with ESG and responsible investment communications is beneficial
  • Highly discreet, thoughtful, and trusted by senior leadership
  • Strong strategic thinker, with the ability to advise at Partner and Board level
  • Calm, composed, and effective under pressure
  • Commercially astute, with an ability to balance transparency with confidentiality
  • Collaborative and relationship-driven, with a measured communication style
